Rohan is one of the pool technicians at The Pool Service Co, and we sat down with him to learn how he approaches the pools on his run. His day starts early on the road with seventies and eighties music. He said, I like the drive. Fleetwood Mac gets me going. It puts me in the right rhythm.
Once he reaches the first pool, the routine is clear. He checks the water, listens for changes, and tackles whatever he finds. His favourite part is solving problems. He said, I like coming across an issue and fixing it on the spot. Leave it better than you found it. That is important to me.
He has seen a few surprises. The one he still laughs about was finding five unopened bags of pool salt sitting in the deep end after another company had thrown them straight into the water. We asked Rohan what one tool he cannot live without on the job. He did not think about it for long. He said, My blue multi grips. They get me out of almost anything. They come everywhere with me.
Rohan spends most of his week servicing pools across the Eastern Suburbs. He said, The views are great and I am lucky to look after some beautiful pools. We asked Rohan what one thing pool owners could do more of between visits to keep their pool healthy. He said, In summer people forget to top the pool up. A little extra water makes a big difference. When the water level drops, the skimmer cannot work properly and the system starts to struggle. The pool ends up working harder than it should, and problems build up fast. A pool will tell you something is wrong long before it goes green. You only need to look at it often. Small checks like a quick brush and skim make a big difference.
When asked who he would call if his own pump broke, he did not hesitate. He said, Marcus. He works the East. He knows the area and lives and breathes The Pool Service Co. Shout out to Marcus, who seems to be the unofficial mascot according to Rohan.
Rohan’s day always includes one stop he takes seriously. At ten thirty he gets his iced coffee. He laughed and said, Gateway to lunch. Lunch is usually Chargrill Charlies in Rose Bay before he moves to the next round of pools.
Outside work he keeps things simple. His perfect weekend is good weather, the beach, and time with family and friends. He said, No tools. No cleaning. Just a normal day. If he could swim anywhere in the world, he would stay in Australia because, in his words, We have the best beaches.
Rohan brings years of hands-on experience to The Pool Service Co. He understands how pools behave and how quickly small problems can grow if you miss the early signs. One thing he enjoys about the job is working the same pools each week. He said, That is what I like. You come back to the same pools and you learn them. Every pool is different. When you see them often, you understand their personality and you can pick up problems early.
We are grateful to have Rohan as part of The Pool Service Co team. His knowledge is strong, his passion for pools is clear, and he brings a positive approach to every visit. He cares about keeping pools clean and healthy, and it shows in the way he works.
